Are You Ready For an Adventure?

A lot of the time, travelling is about getting to a warmer climate and then sitting by the pool drinking from chilled glasses and getting stuck into a good book. While this is great for kicking back and relaxing, it isn’t really going to satisfy your curiosity so much.

You need an adventure.

Whether you are a solo traveller or going as a group, adventure holidays are ideal for getting away from the usual confines of your life and really giving yourself a chance to experience something new. When you make the travelling part of the holiday, you might as well go on an adventure.

Go on a Trek

Trekking is the kind of holiday that comes in all experience levels. If you haven’t tried it before, you should have a go at some of the mountains we have in Britain first to get your eye in (or at least see if your calves will hold up!). This kind of holiday might require some fitness prep but it is well worth the effort. Not only will you tone up but you will also get to enjoy some truly spectacular sights.

Lots of people set out on various treks themselves but companies like Global Adventure Challenges can offer all kinds of holidays with guides and suggest routes you should take. Plus, if you need a bit of encouragement to do something new, this website is all about taking challenges to raise money for charity - what more could you want?

Go on a SCUBA Holiday

SCUBA diving feels like an out of this world experience and seeing so many different fish in their various habitats is incredible. You can book a holiday yourself or you could look at organized SCUBA holidays with a tour guide like PADI. Again, if you haven’t tried SCUBA before, you should probably at least try a swimming pool test first to check you’re okay with the equipment.

There are some obvious locations for SCUBA holidays like Indonesia and the Caribbean but if you want something off the beaten track, Dahab, Egypt, has a lot to offer including the rather spectacular Blue Hole. The best thing about it is that every dive is different and you never know what might swim past next so go for a varied itinerary.

Try Interrailing

Though this isn’t the same sort of adventure, interrailing is still the best way to see and do all kinds of things across Europe. With one train ticket, you can visit all kinds of different destinations and give yourself the freedom to plan your trip as you go along. This kind of holiday is really popular with students who tend to stay in hostels but you can upgrade yourself to nice hotels if you wish!

Seeing so many different cities in one long trip gives you the time and space to really relax into getting to know different cultures and pack your holiday to the brim with new experiences. And if you need a break, there are spas in Budapest with lovely hot pools to soak in!
